Mark has been a respected leader in the media industry for
more than 25 years, building advertising and marketing solutions
for world-class brands.
As CEO, Mark oversees both Katz Radio Group and Katz
Television Group, leading a team of first-class media experts to
drive substantial growth for all Katz partners. Mark is focused
on leading Katz to the forefront of digital revenue generation
for its clients, providing world-class research, as well as
leadership in the programmatic buying arena.
For nearly a decade, Mark served as the President and Chief
Operating Officer of Viacom’s MTV Networks. He was part of the
original team that created brands such as MTV: Music Television;
Nickelodeon; VH1 and Comedy Central. During that time, revenue
and earnings from the company's operations more than tripled.
Mark drove growth and expanded the company's reach, both
geographically and into areas such as films, consumer products
and digital. Mark also helped to spearhead the acquisition of
brands such as Spike TV and Country Music Television, as well as
their integration into the franchise. Following his tenure at
MTV Networks, Mark served as the Chairman and Chief Executive
Officer of Interpublic Media, part of the Interpublic Group, one
of the world's leading organizations of advertising agencies and
marketing service companies. In this position, Mark oversaw all
of Interpublic's worldwide media buying operations responsible
for over $20 billion in annual media spend.
Mark next joined internet company Spot Runner as Vice
Chairman and President of Media Platforms. In this role, Mark
led the development of the “Malibu” Platform, the first full
end-to-end, open, web-based electronic advertising exchange
designed to maximize value for television networks, advertising
agencies and their clients.
In 2009, Current Media, founded by Al Gore, selected Mark to
become Chief Executive Officer of the cable news network and
online destination. Mark spearheaded the network’s new brand
identity and programming lens to focus on documentaries,
political commentary and news analysis. Under his leadership,
Current achieved record distribution, sales, profitability and
ratings success, and was the recipient of two Emmy Awards, as
well as the George Foster Peabody Award.
